Picking the Right LickiMat® - Cats

All cats are unique and different in their own way – just like humans.  No cat likes to have its whiskers touch the side of a bowl when feeding.  This causes “whisker stress” in most cats and is the main reason many cats pick their food out of a bowl and place it on the floor before feeding.

LickiMats are vet designed and provide a perfect feeding surface for cats.  LickiMats allow you to spread out the cat food or treat on the mat surface or press the cat food or treat into the mat surface, encouraging your cat to crouch and feed more naturally. 

The rubber tips of LickiMat gently scrape and stimulate your cat’s tongue whilst feeding or snacking.  This increases saliva protection, improves oral hygiene, protects teeth and gums, and most importantly soothes your cat by releasing endorphins.

The pockets of the LickiMat challenge your cat to extract the raw, wet, dry or liquid food or treat as a reward, enriching their feeding experience.

Keep in mind that you can use any LickiMat as a replacement for your cat feeding bowl!  Your cat will thank you for it.  LickiMats allow you to present raw, wet, dry and liquid foods on a single platter without mixing them or making a mess!

Selecting the right LickiMat for your cat comes down to:

• what you feed your cat;
• what treats your cat likes to eat; and
• whether or not you prefer to use the dishwasher to clean up.

LickiMat® Classics

LickiMat Classics come in three surfaces: Buddy, Playdate and Soother.  

Playdate™ has discrete pockets that will contain food.  Liquids are easier to manage and keep separate from other food or treats.	Buddy™ has a more complex surface and still allows separation of foods and treats.	Soother™ is exactly what the name says.  It allows soft and liquid foods to be licked out with extra tongue simulation.

LickiMat Classics are available in three colours: green, orange and turquoise.  The dark blue LickiMat Classic Playdate is currently only available in the United States.

The surface patterns of the three models differ a little to better suit different types of foods, treats and liquids.  All three surfaces are suitable for raw, wet, dry and liquid cat food, as well as any manner of treat. 

The Soother is the most challenging of the three surfaces, and is best suited for soft, runny and liquid foods and treats.  It is preferred for foods containing liquids such as fish oils as it gives the tongue an exquisite workout.

All  LickiMats Classics are microwave friendly, so you can cook meals on them in the microwave; they are freezer-friendly, so you can freeze treats on them; and they are easy to hand-wash in the sink.  They are all made from human food-grade rubber (TPR).

If you have a very large cat and you want to use the LickiMat as a feeder, you can use the Large LickiMat Buddy Large Classic that comes in two colours: orange and green.  We have not put these on the website.  Contact us to make sure this is the right choice.

If you have a dog at home, you can use the Classic LickiMat for dogs too!

New Cat LickiMat Classics: Casper™ and Felix™

We are releasing two new LickiMat Classic models with more complex surfaces designed specifically for cats to better emulate natural feeding for cats and to provide variety on the same surface.  These surfaces provide a varied challenge for cats to "chew out" the food or treat, much like they would in the wild, enriching the feeding the experience.

The New LickiMat Classics come in two surfaces: Casper and Felix.  

Casper™ has complex, thinner and deeper pockets whilst having elements of Soother in the tail.	Felix™ has a more regular and rounded structures with elements of Soother in the head.

The new LickiMats are available in three colours: green, orange and turquoise. 

We are currently accepting orders for Casper and Felix for delivery in April 2020.

LickiMat Tuff™

LickiMat Tuff mats are suitable for raw, wet, dry and liquid cat food, as well as any manner of cat treats and spreads.

If you prefer using a dishwasher to hand-washing, you should be looking at the LickiMat Tuff range.  The Tuff currently comes in two surfaces: Buddy and Playdate - same as the Classics above.  They are available in four colours: green, orange, turquoise and a limited edition red.

If you have a dog at home, you can use the Tuff LickiMat for dogs too!

LickiMat Slomo™

LickiMat SloMo mats are designed to combine dry, wet, raw and especially soft or liquid cat foods and treats on the same time without creating a mess.  Like all other LickiMats, they can be used for treats or used as a complete and elegant feeder.  You can check out the Instagram photos of real cats using the Slomo as a feeder here.

Slomos are available in four colours: green, orange, turquoise and limited edition red.  The dark blue LickiMat Slomo is currently only available in the United States.
